Just like any other sector, the cryptocurrency industry has seen its fair share of scams in the last couple of years. Some of these activities are a lot less complicated than the more technical hacks, but have been successful enough to swindle people out of their hard-earned funds. Most recently, a new website popped up, showing a Bitcoin investment strategy with supposed testimonies from big names such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Richard Branson.
The website advertises a ‘Bitcoin Profits’ system where people can easily make heavy profits from automated crypto trades. According to the site – economicsworld(dot)info, the system will allow the average person profit from cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, XRP, Ethereum, Monero and ZCash even in a bear market. It supposedly uses artificial intelligence and promises more than $4,000 in profits.
The home page shows a picture of both Branson and Gates, allegedly speaking about the platform at a conference. The site however also includes fake testimonies from from Andrew Forrest, a popular Australian businessman, as well as English actress Kate Winslet. The actress has however been apprised of the situation and has put out a publication through a spokesperson.
“This misleading promotion is completely disingenuous and categorically false. We are dealing with this through the appropriate channels.”
Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in general is still very new and so there’s still a large number of people who do not really understand the technicalities. These people seem to be constantly targeted by scammers who want to take advantage of their ignorance. Before you make any cryptocurrency investments find a proper trader or analyst to put you through.
