The team launched the Zinken testnet on October 12, which according to developers, is “performing perfectly” and has been since the launch. In a recent publication, lead developer Danny Ryan said Zinken will run better than the previous Spadina. Ryan also said the new testnet will allow easier operations before the full launch of ETH 2.

“Zinken is another eth2 testnet launch aimed at giving client teams a chance to iron out issues in their release process, and validators a chance to experience a smoother genesis prior to mainnet.”

Generally, the Spadina testnet trial was not successful. This was mostly because participation was significantly low, along with a lot of client errors. This means that not only is the Zinken a welcome development, expectations for the new testnet may be very high in the community.
