Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, stated that his three first paychecks would be in Bitcoin ( BTC). Adams made this clear before he was elected mayor of the prestigious American city. CNBC’s SquawkBox interviewed Adams about the mayor’s payment plan. He also discussed the recent BTC price developments.

BTC traded between $45,000 to $52,000 since December 2013. Adams was asked by the media if he received his first BTC paycheck after the price dropped to $43,000 on January 6th. First, Adams responded that he saw the positive in the current BTC price slump and then stated that he had not received payment. He put it this way:

“Sometimes it is best to buy when things are going down. So when they go back up, you make a good profit. Yes, I will take my three first paychecks in Bitcoin. Although I have not yet received my first paycheck, I believe we must use blockchain, bitcoin and other forms of technology. New York City should be at the forefront of this technology. That’s why I am looking forward to my first Bitcoin paycheck.

BTC trades just a little below $43,000 at $42,917.33 as of press time
