Opera, a leading web 2.0 browser, recently announced the release of a beta cryptocurrency browser to tap into Web3’s movement. Opera claims that the beta version will provide a variety of services and options to users. You will have access to a continuously updated blockchain news stream, participation at the NFT and crypto airdrops, as well as a Web3 events calendar. Users will also be able to access a gallery of non-fungible tokens (NFT), blockchain communities, educational materials, live crypto prices and gas fees, as well as a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT).
Opera’s new crypto browser initiative is being described by the Opera team:
“We are pursuing an inclusive, multichain strategy in setting up Crypto Browser Project. We embrace as many dApp [decentralized apps] and domain name partnership as possible with the goal of making crypto and Web3 seamless to our users.”
Opera was the first browser-based cryptocurrency wallet to be created over three years ago. The web 2.0 platform is now a well-known player in the market. It has already formed business partnerships with many industry heavyweights like Polygon, Solana and Unstoppable Domains. While some of these partnerships are currently in place, others such as the Polygon’s will soon be announced.
Opera will also be moving from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake (POS), in order to be more environmentally-friendly. Opera will use staking instead of mining to verify new transactions.
Web3 is quickly emerging as the spiritual successor of Web 2.0 and an integral part of the burgeoning metaverse.
