The drive for cryptocurrency adoption is seeing a giant leap forward as according to reports, 25,000 sales outlets in France, belonging to several major companies, are planning to begin allowing its customers make payments in Bitcoin, as from early next year. Among them are Sportswear company Decathlon, major shoe retailer Foot Locker, the Sephora cosmetic store and 27 others as well. All of these companies will facilitate Bitcoin payments through solutions provided by Global POS.

Global POS announced this during the Paris Retail Week, specifically mentioning that the new system will be carried out through its Easy2PlayPayment plan and the EasyWallet application. The payments will be done under legal regulation stipulated by France’s law on Business Growth and Transformation, also called the PACTE Law, which went into law in April and provides rules that govern digital assets.

Stéphane Djiane, the founder of Global POS, said:

“With our partners, we want to simplify the adoption of cryptocurrencies as a real means of payment within the framework defined by the law.”

Per a survey carried out by research firm Kantar TNS in 2018, there are at least 4 million people in France – representing about 6.7% – who hold different digital currencies with this number gradually increasing every day. Also, this makes the new payment plan a bit more feasible and also very desirable for the French people.

Other companies who will be using the Global POS service by next year include Boulanger, Conforama, World House, Cultura, Norauto and Intersport, among others.
