Japanese manga writers can’t get enough of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. First there was the manga-themed monacoin (MONA) and its accompanying MonaComi manga comic series. Then came a bitcoin (BTC)-themed manga series that revolves around the origins of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency.
And the latest addition to this fast-growing arsenal of crypto-themed literary art is Nobunaga Blockchain – a series all about sparking social revolution using the power of blockchain technology.

The female protagonist vows to become proficient in blockchain technology and “overthrow the old social system.”
Things get fantastic when she is aided by a time-traveling revolutionary hero from Japan’s past – who appears to be just as keen on the idea of blockchain technology as she is. Together, the duo plots to “create a new social structure” where everything is decentralized, smart contracts are the norm and cryptocurrencies replace conventional fiats.
The first issue (“Block 1”), available here, makes numerous references to blockchain technology, as well as a couple of bitcoin references.
The publisher has called on readers to chime in with their own questions and comments about blockchain.
The press release authors quote the series’ artist as stating,
